Try Samsung Voice Recorder first if your Galaxy supports Transcript Assist in the language of your recording. It already offers transcription, summaries and text sharing on eligible devices, so those features alone are not a reason to add another service. Notibo is worth considering for a browser workflow or recording-based study material, especially when the Samsung language list does not cover your main language.
Check the feature, not just the Galaxy name
Samsung's US support guide specifies selected phones and tablets running Android 14 with One UI 6.1 or later. Those software versions are prerequisites, not a promise that every device running them receives the feature. The UAE guide adds that model, region, carrier and software version affect availability. Open Voice Recorder and look for Transcript Assist on the actual device you intend to use.
English and German appear in both support guides. Danish does not. The US Business page lists 20 languages for Transcript Assist, including English and German, but still not Danish. Its separate Writing Assist list does include Danish. That distinction matters: support for rewriting Danish text does not establish support for recognising Danish speech.
The lists also differ in scope. The UAE list names fewer languages than the US Business list, which includes Dutch and Swedish. Do not combine every Samsung AI language into one universal compatibility claim. Use the list for the specific function, then confirm that language in your device's settings before an important recording.
Samsung says its basic Galaxy AI features are free, while enhanced and third-party features may have different terms or fees. This is not an unlimited promise about future services. For an eligible phone you already own, however, trying the documented built-in workflow is a sensible first step before buying another subscription.
Recording controls and the route into text
The US guide describes Standard and Interview recording modes. Standard is intended for meetings, lectures and voice memos. Interview mode focuses on sound directed at the top and bottom of the phone. Consider where the speakers sit before choosing it; a two-person setup is a different recording problem from a lecturer walking around a room.
During recording you can pause and resume, place bookmarks and name the saved file in a category. Settings include High, Medium and Low recording quality, plus stereo recording in Standard mode. The cited guide does not give the bitrate for those quality labels. Do not treat a label as a measured transcription advantage.
For text, select a saved recording and choose Transcribe within Transcript Assist. You can play the recording while reading, generate a summary, translate the transcript, or add it to Samsung Notes. The sharing menu offers Voice file and Text file. This provides a concrete exit route instead of leaving the result confined to the recorder screen.
Samsung's US Business conditions limit processed audio to under three hours. They describe Transcript Assist for the preinstalled Voice Recorder and recordings made with the preinstalled Phone, Samsung Notes or Interpreter apps. That is not documentation of a universal importer for arbitrary recordings from every other app. Check the origin of an existing file before planning a batch of imports.
Compare the steps that you actually need
| Question | Samsung Voice Recorder | Notibo |
|---|---|---|
| Starting point | Eligible Galaxy and feature | Browser recording or uploaded audio/video |
| Danish recognition | Not listed in the cited Transcript Assist lists | Choose Danish as the main recording language |
| Written result | Transcript, summary and sharing | Transcript, summary and key points |
| Existing files | Documented Samsung recording sources | Upload limit of 50 MB per file |
| Duration condition | Transcript Assist audio under three hours | Browser recording up to two hours |
| Revision material | Listed guides focus on transcript tools | Recording-based flashcards and spaced repetition on Pro |
A hypothetical German-speaking student already has an eligible Galaxy and needs a short seminar recap. If the Samsung transcript and summary are usable after review, stay with that workflow. Moving the same material to another service solely to receive another summary may add steps without solving a missing task.
A hypothetical Danish-speaking student has a working Samsung recorder but no Danish option in Transcript Assist. The microphone working does not settle the language problem. A browser service with Danish selected as the main language is a relevant alternative. Test it with permitted material before relying on it for a full lecture.

A ten-minute check with one short recording
Use permitted sample material and keep the original audio.
- For two minutes, check model, software and the actual language choices in Transcript Assist. In Notibo, select the same main language rather than changing languages midway through the trial.
- Record three minutes containing a proper name, a number and a sentence with a negation. Use the microphone position you would use for the real task.
- Spend three minutes reviewing recognition. Listen to those details while reading the full transcript before opening a summary. If processing is still running, wait; this schedule is not a speed guarantee.
- Use two minutes to share the Samsung text or voice file and open the result where you plan to work. For either route, note what needs correction before the text can be reused.
If Samsung stops recording when the screen locks, its US guide suggests allowing unrestricted battery access under Settings, Apps, Voice Recorder, Battery. Test that setting with a harmless sample first. The same guide provides a setting to block incoming calls during recording. These are specific troubleshooting options, not grounds to promise uninterrupted recording on every phone.
Offline processing needs a qualified answer
Samsung's documentation is inconsistent here. The UK S24 guide, dated 29 April 2024, lists Voice Recorder Transcript Assist as available offline after account requirements, while summaries are online. The US Business page states that transcription and summaries require a network connection and Samsung Account login.
Those statements do not justify a blanket promise that the complete Samsung workflow works offline. If offline transcription is essential, test your exact model, language and software with a non-sensitive sample, including the summary step separately. Plan around needing a connection unless that specific workflow has been confirmed on your device.
Translation is also distinct from transcription. Samsung's UAE guidance describes converting an existing transcript into another language. A translated passage is not a verbatim record of the speaker's original wording. Preserve the original-language text when you need to quote someone, and review the audio before relying on a translated summary.
When Notibo fills a real gap
Notibo can record in a phone browser using the microphone, with the page open and screen unlocked. It can also accept audio or video uploads up to 50 MB. Processing returns a transcript and structured notes in the cloud, with EU storage and US processors. It does not promise speaker labels or timestamps in the transcript.
An already running Notibo recording can continue through a lost connection while the page remains open, then upload when connectivity returns. That is recording resilience, not offline transcription. Choose one main language; automatic detection finds the dominant language, and switches during the recording can cause errors.
Use Samsung when its available features already complete your task. Consider Notibo when browser access, the selected main language or Pro study tools address something you are missing.
